WElcome to 2019!Happy New Year, Visitor !Not necessarily timely, but this is my first communication of 2019, and since it’s still January I’m not off by much! It’s been 6 months since our last Familygram, and most of that time has been replacing the software that produces and delivers the Familygrams. The old software was struggling and buggy, so finally I surrendered and installed a new and much more sophisticated package. Learning how to use it has been a uphill climb, but it looks good, and promises easier and more frequent delivery in the future. Let me know what you think - this is the first Familygram using the new system. |

 Coming Up: REGROUPEX 20 Planning SurveyPlanning for our next reunion, REGROUPEX 20, has been at the top of my to-do list, and and now that we have re-established comms, it will get my full attention. It’s been one year and 4 months since REGROUPEX 17. The consensus was that we should shoot for a reunion every two years, which would put it in September of this year. However, we have learned from experience that one year lead time is a reasonable starting point so everyone can plan travel and coordinate with other family obligations. That means we are looking at the first quarter of 2020 at the earliest. That said, we want to know what you think. Any successful reunion depends not only on dedicated volunteers and sponsors (more about that later) but on the input of each and everyone of you, the potential attendees! So, to make that easy, we have created an on-line REGROUPEX 20 Planning Survey, which we will invite you to take shortly. It’s currently being tested by a handful of dedicated volunteers (and volun-tolds). As soon as we complete fine-tuning, maybe as soon as next week, you will receive another Familygram with a link to the survey. Your feedback will help guide decisions that must be made to answer the questions of when, where, what, and how much! We look forward to hearing what you have to say. Keep your eyes on your email for the next Familygram - maybe as early as next week, and help us all make REGROUPEX 20 successful. |

Master Sailing List Research ProjectThe Master Sailing List (MSL) Missing Shipmate Research project continues. We have obtained every Enlisted Personnel Diary and Officer Personnel Diary between 1972 and 1981 from the National Archives, and have identified about 140 shipmates that we had not previously identified. Their names have been added to the MSL, and are listed on the website under WHBA >> PROJECTS >> MASTER SAILING LIST RESEARCH >> MISSING SHIPMATE LIST ADDITIONS.Take a look and see if you recognize any of the names of these long-lost shipmates, and consider helping track them down, or donating to acquire the remaining Personnel Diaries. |
